good filter but not quite right for this old Ridgid 4.25hp wet and dry vacuum. 12 Gallon

Hello everyone. I have no idea if this helps or hurts anyone, but here it is: I have an older Ridgid 4.25hp 12 gallon wet and dry vacuum. I had it for maybe 20 years? Either way it works great and I haven't found a direct replacement for "here is the right filter for this model". It's possible that the Ridgid's model number is E43484, but I'm not exactly sure either. Anyway I tried another one that was for Ridgid 5 gallons and up and it was dead wrong then I tried this one. So basically it's maybe, well, let's say 3/8 inch or so short. Or more specifically, the rubber gasket(s) are too loose to fit snugly against the flange. So if you push it in until it's tight, then basically this plastic cap on the OTHER end that holds in place with a plastic knob/nut. Then a gap was created. which would obviously let a lot of air through and bypass the filter. sigh. and this serves as enough clearance to push the nut and cap firmly onto the other end. Is working. That's all. The filter itself is great and it's just not the *right* part I think for my particular device. I think I could go the other way... maybe just tape (!) a gasket on the flange could do the same thing.
