Overall this door is well designed. The magnetic closure works fairly securely and I don't notice any drafts or gaps big enough for bugs to get in. I've read reviews of other insulated doors that said dogs wouldn't use them because they're opaque. This translucent one is not transparent but light comes through and my dog is ready to walk through. Now for the not so good ones. I used this to make a special removable window insert to allow my dog in and out (I have glass doors so I can't install them). I used 3/4" plywood. To use a thinner material than a standard door you have to snap off part of the aluminum frame. It sounds easy in the instructions but it took me about 30 minutes with pliers and it has a jagged edge Leaving metal edge exposed (my dog might touch it). So another 15 minutes with a metal file to smooth it out. This is an unacceptable amount of work for such an expensive product; I think they should just go with the "thin" option instead offer door". While I'm happy with the end result, unless you have heavy-duty pliers and filing metalwork and are proficient with hand tools, I recommend staying away from this product if you plan to install it into thinner material.
