We recently adopted a small breed female dog and needed to keep her away from the part of the house where our older cats spend most of their time. 44" wide, and all the standard baby gates we've found (including the one we already have) are no wider than 42". (learn not to chase after everything) we didn't want anything that required wall mounting. These gates were perfect. They stand on the tile and although he tripped over them chasing a toy or a ball they stay put.The height is also handy as it's in a high traffic area.We used the walnut Finish chosen and it's very pretty and goes well with the other dark woods in our house. We chose to bolt the legs onto the block so we could easily fit everything together to get it out of the way and I was able to screw them in with just a screwdriver (no holes provided). It's not listed in the item description for some reason, but as I said, it blocks our 44" opening and can easily be extended an additional 6" before an extension is needed.
