I'm a home cook, so I always need to control the temperature of foods like baking bread, preparing sweets, cooking meat, etc. This thermometer is okay for the money, but I found it a few degrees lower than my more expensive thermometer. It also turns off too quickly when open and I can't easily turn it back on with one hand. The light also goes out too quickly and is difficult to turn on with one hand. This is a good thermometer for beginners, but it's not for you for a seasoned cook.
