Looks like I figured it out. It goes with all the other oily metal things in my kitchen. He seems to be durable. For example, the metal is thick enough to last a while, and the plastic trigger (which keeps the whistle/nose open or closed) makes a nice click. He doesn't look skinny at all. The handle gets a little warm when it boils, but this is unavoidable. It's insulated enough so if you grab it as soon as it whistles, it won't burn your hand. The whistle is good and loud and you don't have to have water at a certain level for it to blow.
