I've been using them outdoors all the time to keep a tree (actually quite a large tree for this job, about 8 inches in diameter) upright after a crazy hurricane, which blew about 10 degrees. They're just showing signs of corrosion, the mechanisms still work, and they're still stuck. I've only used 2 of these for this purpose and the other 2 for general use and can't find almost anything bad to say about them. My only complaint I've found recently is that the end of the strap that comes with connected to the ratchet is too short to bypass the mounting rails in the U-Haul truck. , which hasn't been a problem with other straps I've had for years (but has a problem with other straps I've bought recently). If they made them about 3 inches longer, that would be the perfect easy mode. Strap for all purposes and to be my new go. Because of that one caveat, I can't give them 5 stars and will continue to refer to the straps as my "favorites" that I've had for 15 years. I would just like to replace these old straps due to age but unfortunately I haven't found perfection yet but they are very close. Drop the price a dollar or add $0.50 in material to the strap to make it perfect and leave the retail price alone. Nonetheless. On my last move when I found that they didn't fit U-Haul rails very well I decided to buy a few more straps from another manufacturer just to say a few bucks and that was a mistake . At this price point, the most recent direct competitor to these straps at Revain is the Keeper 05506 15' x 1' ratchet with padded handles, and these straps beat me by a mile. If I didn't need the moving straps almost the same day they arrived I would return them and buy new blue ones.
