Review on 🚪 APDTY 042513 Front Right Passenger-Side Door Lock Latch Actuator Motor: Improved Security & Convenience by David Hayden

This product has terrible mechanics. The electric magnet drive works well and is solid, but the locking plate, mechanics and body shape are VERY sloppy and need a retool. Bought for an emergency repair on a Toyota Camry we had in the shop. We installed the lock assembly and when you tightened the bolts the latch didn't turn. If you don't tighten the screws, everything works. The problem lies in the steel latch and the plastic housing. If you tighten the screws even to the limit, the two rotating parts behind the platter will not rotate. The countersunk screw on the factory latch has a shoulder bolt; This means there is enough thread on the end to fasten, but the rest of the bolt shank is smooth to avoid stripping. When I removed the screw from the APDTY latch, it screwed all the way to the head, and apparently it was overtightened during manufacture and bent the latch plate, which also compresses the pivot mechanisms. I didn't return the bar, although I certainly would if I didn't need it urgently. I ended up with perfectly matching star/cylindrical washers that fit into the screw holes on the plastic case below and was able to place them far enough that we could tighten the screws to the correct torque and it worked fine.
