Let's start with my opinion and then move on to what other reviewers have said and the technological side of things. We hope this review helps others make an informed decision. Harmony remotes have always been deeply rooted in offering the most comprehensive approach with support for the most options. However, they are not intended for those with below-average technical skills and knowledge. Any older person with limited understanding of how technology works, anyone who can't reformat a hard drive will struggle with the Harmony remote. This remote is a 950, I used to have a Harmony. Harmony has been around for years and its desktop-only software requires manual programming. You had to run each command, use the original remote control signals and choose from a limited number of options to put together a remote that can control multiple items, such as the entertainment center. . This only worked if all items were toggled on or off. If a device was off when it should have been on, you had to go to troubleshooter to fix the problem so future commands sent from the remote found everything as it should be and has a bunch of commands that you will later request without error. For those who got it, it was still a huge improvement over the 5 remotes. These required hours of coding, problem solving, and more coding. This is for someone with average technical knowledge. Every negative review I read is almost always based on individual people's understanding of how it works and how they think it should work. Technology has come a long way in the past two decades than 1,000 years before they came together. But it's not perfect, it's still man-made, and it will still have its quirks. People today have this unrealistic expectation that if it doesn't do everything I want, when I want it, the way I want it, then it's broken or wrong and it's going to be ridiculed. On to the technical side of this 950! This guy is amazing, especially compared to the technology we had years ago. Do not use desktop software, it is for remotes older than 6 years. Create an online account and link it to the desktop software if you've pre-programmed Harmony and want to take advantage of it. If you're not coming from the old Harmony, start over with the app and avoid desktop programming if possible. The desktop version is also not needed to update the firmware. Let it run without being so impatient as to frantically press buttons to see if it's locked, which will cause it to lock. Once you have started the firmware update process, you should assume it will take all night, calm down and go to bed. That's when you're impatient. If you can forgo button-pushing for now, just watch TV for an hour while it does its thing. It makes it wireless, with a remote device, it won't have a high-speed link chip. Eventually this will come to an end and only then should you start time programming, reprogramming or initial programming. As for me, I connected to my app and it loaded my previous items and then let me test each segment and if there were any problems it fixed them before I moved on. So far he has solved them all. Once that's done, it scans your WiFi for other things it can control and provides you with a checklist of the results. Check what you want to control and it will go through a pre-configuration and testing phase. If anything is left after that, all you have to do is program something manually. I have a smart home and a Harmony Hub so I decided to look for WiFi. It controls everything it can and gives me one more aspect to control my smart home with. So far it has crashed a few times and when I press pause it turns off my TV, but the third time this happened the remote recognized it and asked if all items were in the state they should be, and then proceeded to repair the problem. and save it on the remote for me. Until it's been less than a week and I've turned off the rest of my harmonies, I won't need them. Another useful feature is the vibration when you press the button, you can change the level and it will no doubt let you know when you've pressed the button. And one more feature - the ability to increase or decrease the brightness of the buttons and columns of the remote control. All the nifty little features you never knew you needed that will take your score to the next level. Next I wanted to add something about the center of harmony. You can buy an Elite Harmony bundle that includes a hub and a 950, but it costs a lot more to buy it that way. Buy a used hub (bought mine here) and a refurbished remote. As a result, you get an investment of about two hundred dollars, which is twice as much as new. All the benefits, half the cost. Buy a hub, it allows the remote control to convert radio waves into infrared signals, opening up the possibility to control a lot more. The hub also features WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, increasing the control possibilities to a limitless state. The controls are quick and responsive, they don't have to be in sight to use the remote control, I can turn on the TV from the bedroom if I want to. It also gives you online control, turning your phone into a smart remote control. Huge benefits to replace breasts. The combination is Cat Meow for Smart Home or Smart Entertainment Control. I have no regrets and am very happy that I took a decisive step. If you're standing on a fence, do it.
