Well built, durable, easy to use, minimal worries about losing calibration

As a home mechanic who (fortunately) doesn't always sit under the hood of my car, I wanted a quality torque wrench that was accurate and lost the calibration not fast over time. The impetus for the purchase was to make sure I braked properly on my wife's car. I have a larger 1/2 drive torque wrench for 50-250 ft/lb but I haven't had anything that would reduce the torque to 20 ft/lb. I didn't want the brakes to fail due to improperly calibrated bolt tightening, which resulted in the fire and death of my wife and children. Given that I was expecting to use this tool maybe once every few months or less, I really didn't want to deal with a spring-type torque wrench that could lose its calibration over time, and I didn't want to deal with that I have to send it in for recalibration. . So this split torque wrench. The 3/8 drive with a range of 20-100 ft/lb worked great for the caliper pins and is also useful for checking that the diff and transfer case bolts are to the correct specification. . The shorter length is great when I'm under the car and there isn't much room to use a 1/2 drive torque wrench. I also started using this for an oil drain plug instead of the old knee gauge and I was surprised that I tightened the bolt heavily. that have deformed the oil pan and could eventually leak or other horrible things that can happen due to excessive torque. I've been changing the oil in my car since my dad taught me when I was a teenager and I've never used a torque wrench in 30 years, but now that I've started I'll probably never go back to "calibration." "Return elbows." The torque settings are easy to use, easy to read and the wrench makes a loud audible click and also has great tactile feedback when you reach a setting. The case is good, and the best part is that I don't have to worry about this thing failing.Very happy with this key.Wish I'd bought it sooner.
