Beautiful & Rustic Bubblehead Bottle Opener

Got this as a birthday present from my son. He was very proud that he had found something nice related to submarines. I like the idea behind the gift itself, but it's a little harder for me to see the theme. First they mention it was a sand tide - I had to google to find out what that means. Essentially, the sculptor makes a mold out of sand and pours the material into a mold. Knowing that it is sand helps to better understand the rough appearance of the share. Coming back to the share itself. First impression: strong and heavy in the hand. I weighed it at 6.3 ounces. I was a little concerned that its construction might not be strong enough for repeated use, but I think the sturdy look got me going. It looks a bit plain and definitely very rustic looking. I turned it over and wondered what the attached part on the bottom was for. 2 months later I still don't know. If he should mean something to a submariner, it's not for that (to me). He opened the bottle exactly as he should and I no longer worry about his ability to open bottles. it's strong Overall I think this is good news that you can really use. I find a magnet on the bottom would be more useful than "whatever it is". However, this requires a fairly strong magnet so that it does not end up on the ground later. It would have been a little more visually apt if it was blackened cast iron, but I think I could always do it if I wanted at some point. I have slight concerns if the masts and antennas at the top are strong enough to be accidentally dropped or if they used glue there that would withstand the firing process to turn the cast iron black.
