My dog looks like a cross between a Whippet and a Pinscher and I wanted to try this collar on his long neck. The head is slightly larger than the neck. Neck measures 12-12 1/2 inches. Since the small size was 11-19 inches, I found that wasn't a problem. Well it works, but not in the way I expected. If the collar is snug, I can use my big hand. I'll rate 3 1/2 at least the tension. That might be good for a big dog, but it's not good for a big dog at all. It's ok to go, there's too much weight on either side that the tensioner is on. bulky. If it hangs very loosely, my dog can get his paw stuck in the tensioner. What? Anyway, I like your collar, but not for my dog. I ordered another one from another seller and hope it works better (smaller selection). To be honest if you suggested a different size I would order it. I'm new to using a martingale collar, but I'm almost certain it's not meant to be. Collars in a narrower range for people like me. The collar stopped most of the tension so I know it can work. It's just that it's almost more trouble than it's worth. I went through them again with their straps and could immediately tell the difference in tension, I just need a better one.
