Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced Privacy Solution: 3M Edge-to-Edge Widescreen Laptop Privacy Filter (PF140W9E) by Ray Gist

Revainrating 3 out of 5

One method to use is dim.

3M privacy filters are the standard for filtering privacy on any screen. I follow them every time. However, this time I was quite disappointed. First, the 14-inch screen protector was actually 15 inches. The box also said it was 14 inches, so that was a bit confusing. The good news about this bezel was that it fitted my bezel perfectly and could be fitted that way. The next problem was the mounting options that came with the screen. There are usually two mounting options. The first is adhesive strips. It can also be a permanent attachment option as you will damage the screen if you peel them off incorrectly. The second is the mounting bosses that are glued to the front panel. These brackets allow you to insert and remove the screen as you wish. The package I received came with permanent adhesive strips only. I was lucky that the extra inch of space on the privacy filter that I received gave me enough room to glue the strips so that their entire surface was in contact with the edging and the privacy filter. The only problem now is that the straps aren't as strong as I thought they would be when attached to the bezel. Now the privacy filter turns off from time to time and I have to reapply it. Due to sizing and installation issues, I will now look into alternative privacy filters. Unfortunately 3M is stuck.
