Review on 🏌️ Volvik Vivid Colored Golf Balls with Matte Finish (12-Pack) by Tyler Gannamani

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Visibility and ball flight are excellent. Best ball for the price.

After spending hundreds of dollars on Titleist Pro V1 and V1X golf balls, I did a little research on ball flight performance and comparisons to distance, spin speed, ball flight characteristics, etc. The Pro V1 balls will add about 5 yards to your shots when your club head speed is 115 mph+, they are a great ball in that regard. The downside in my opinion and in my game is that the drives move away from you quickly and noticeably , when you can't control spin rate by being exceptionally good at shot shaping (draw or fade). If your face and trajectory are poorly controlled you don't need to look for your ball as it will be A LOT out of bounds. Also, Titleist products are approaching $50 per dozen at most golf centers. Of course, the pros have very good swing and face control, so the extra distance is definitely worth it. I was a bit skeptical about changing balls, but after working very, very hard on face control and trajectory, I still had shots and long iron shots. Let's go ahead and let's face it, exercise pads don't fill the Pro V's buckets, making them impossible to train with. Bridgestone, Callaway, and other leading ball manufacturers also offer great products, but again, the price can be prohibitive for most golfers. My research has shown that Volvik balls offer a very good compromise between price and ball quality. Spin speed is nominal and softness on the green is excellent. I chose to play with Volvik "Vivid" balls because I thought they would be easier to find on the field, especially in the fall when the foliage can make it difficult to find balls that are not in the middle of the fairway. I bought 1 dozen green and red. I was skeptical that they would be visible in flight because of the color, especially off the tee. After a few (7) rounds of golf I have found these balls to be very easy to follow in flight and exceptionally easy to find on the course on both rough and uneven ground. Fairway is obvious. Coming off the tee, Volvik balls are much easier to turn compared to some of the more expensive offerings. I also find that the matte finish improves the responsiveness (spin) of the ball on serve and hit. They feel like they stay on the stick a little longer during compression, although I don't have any data to back this up other than the feel I'm noticing. Volvik balls are great priced and I will be ordering 2 dozen more today to keep in stock. Both bright green and red are clearly visible, I have no preference between the two colors. Playmate played bright jade (bluish) and was harder to track from a t-shirt in flight than red or green. So I believe and will be playing extraordinarily bright Volvik balls in 2020. Price, quality and playability offer a great compromise for my game. And since my cornering speed is just over 100mph off the tee (102) and in the low 90s off the irons. The Volvik gives me good control when forming shots on the pitch. I apologize for the length of this review but I think it was justified at a time when many are struggling financially. Those who genuinely love this game will still find a way to play it and hopefully knowing that there is a quality product at a reasonable price will help make a financially sound decision to get you started to keep the pitch. Best of luck to all my golfing friends. Health and hope that you are all staying safe and making wise social distancing decisions as you continue to enjoy the game we love. Sincerely, Rick M.
