(I am posting the same review for the cat collar and transmitter as they both need to work to be effective) After 5 weeks . I've downgraded my rating from 3 to 1 again. What a difference a few weeks make. The range of the transmitter is now about 3 feet. Even at max there is no difference. Warning and Shock are now also at the same distance. I tried everything to increase the range, I changed the battery in the collar. No difference in range, I moved the transmitter up and down and even attached it to the wall. No difference in range. My cat runs right next to him and avoids electrocution if he runs fast enough. What a disappointment for a product that initially worked so well. After 3 weeks. I downgraded my rating from 5 to 3 due to the following issues. My first review is below. It worked great for a couple of weeks and then I started having issues with it. The first problem was the collar falling off in other parts of the house. I set it up so that there is a 5 foot area around the door that highlights the collar. The collar came off 20 feet from the fence transmitter in the bathroom and further away from the transmitter around the vent. In addition, the signal went through the wall of the house to the glassed-in porch, where the cat was let in. Check all spots in your house to see if the collar is loose, don't think it's just around the transmitter. The signal is reflected by objects. There may be a location far from the transmitter that activates it. The second issue is that the collar stretches, probably from the weight. My cat has walked past it and out the dog door several times over the past few days. The collar will not work if it is free. The collar must be the right size so that static electricity can hit the cat. Check the collar for proper fit at least once a day. First week. Original review Bought this to keep my cat away from the dog door and it works great. I've only been using it for a week but it works great, it's easy to set up and it's easy for the cat to know what's off limits. I was so glad to find this as I was considering installing an electronic dog door and the only ones with decent reviews were around $400 which meant I had to buy 4 dog key collars as well. So for $130 (the cost of a fence and collar) I could keep the cat indoors and didn't have to install anything. Note. As other reviewers have said, you have to buy the collar separately, but that's a good thing because you can buy the collar you need. cat, small dog, etc.
