Review on Ingersoll Rand D5140 2 Inch Cordless by Harald Patterson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent drill! There is no need to look any further.

Wow! While expanding my IR collection, I replaced two 19.2v Craftsman drill bits with this guy. As soon as I unpacked it, I knew I had made the right decision. This is so far beyond the quality of Craftsman cordless drills that I can't even begin to explain it. The first thing that struck me when using it is the power available. The torque he exudes is unbelievable! You have to be careful when drilling through metal to either put it in low gear or engage one of the clutch settings. because if you have it in high speed full drill mode and the drill gets stuck, you'll either break the drill or get the crap out of your wrist! The weight is a little heavier than other cordless drills I've used (Dewalt, Milwakee, Craftsman) but that's due to the use of better materials. Still within the acceptable range for this type of instrument. The only issue I have is the side handle which is difficult to adjust. The ring around the drill is too tight and requires some work to fit. Nothing to deduct a star though. The rest of the exercise more than makes up for this small design issue. My suggestion is this. If you are serious about this drill, stop looking and buy it. You won't find a better quality drill. If you already own IR products, these are just as good as their cordless impact wrenches. Note. If you buy the Bare Tool, it comes without a battery or case. This is noted in the description, which is why the tool costs 100 euros less without tools. I wish they had the option to buy the instrument with the case but without the battery for those who already have a lot of 20V batteries.

Pros
  • Drill
Cons
  • So far so good
