Anode Rod Kills: Water Heater

Bought this heater a year ago as a built in boost from the main water heater. From now on it works perfectly. seems to heat well, economical, easy to install. but now i get the leak somewhere in the device. Since it's installed with pipes and a pressure valve on top, I assumed the pressure release was leaking. The anode is part of the heating rods, which should be checked every 6 months. This requires a complete drain, removal of the anode and heater rod assembly. No one but Bosch sells them. now it's an uncomfortable unit. There is no separate drain plug, so you must use a cold inlet to drain, remove the tube, or remove the unit entirely. Lowes has a slightly less expensive standard water heater with a drain, normal pressure relief, and standard anode replacement that has a 6 gallon capacity. I'll just throw away that Bosch block and buy a Lowes AO Smith block. It will be easier to maintain and also have the same or better warranty. Anode inspection and/or replacement is still required, but the design makes it easy to avoid disassembly. This unit worked fine until it started leaking and I found it every 6 months. support pain. now it's not such a big unit. As with many Revain reviews, 4 or 5 stars until you actually use the product. then it turns out to be a 1 or 2 star product in actual use. See photos.
