Frustrated customer - don't even try to remove these connectors without Lisle Remover. I had to change these candles in stages. It took 6-7 hours to replace the first five. Everyone dropped out. It took five hours to replace two more. Those were two plugs under the bulkhead on the driver's side. Both broke off, but the one in the back didn't snap off the terminal and electrode wire that goes through the porcelain. So I had this extremely tough wire that I was trying to rip off with every tool I could think of. It is very difficult to go down into the hole and move and break something there. I waited another week and removed the rear connector on the passenger side. It went very well, it worked with small muscles. And just screwed in a new plug. However, I missed the mark with the two plugs I put in the week before. I've removed and cleaned the coil from both connectors a few times. Nothing helped. I know it must have been because of those two plugs as I had no slip prior to replacing those two. Eventually, pulling the rear connector out of the two ended up. In this brand new connector, the one-piece ground electrode was completely burned out and the positive electrode was broken off. I have no explanation how this could have happened. I wish someone would let me know. Very bad plug installation. I think I have to blame Ford for that. Incidentally, I installed the carburetor cleaner a week before removing the first five spark plugs. Another bottle ahead of the second two. And one more bottle before the last cork is removed. The last plug was unscrewed and really clean. The rest of the candles that came off were very black. I use 20-25 gallons of gasoline a week. Looks like the carburetor cleaner worked. I would suggest running the engine for 800-1000 miles before attempting to change the spark plugs. I can't scientifically say it works, but this plug came out like it should after the cleaner. I drove 88,000 miles with spark plugs. Update - I believe Champion has a replaceable one-piece plug that doesn't break. Check it out before you buy them.
