Review on πŸ”§ Renogy Drill-Free Mount Set for RV, Boats - Corner Bracket Solar Panel Roof Installation by Matt Dyen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A solid no-drill assembly solution with the right adhesives and preparation

Installed a 175 watt solar panel on the roof of my camper van. The roof was flat in length but curved in width. To overcome the bend I first attached the brackets to the roof and then installed the solar panel. If the roof is curved the panel will not sit completely flat on the brackets but that is not a problem, simply apply foam tape to the top of the brackets underneath the panel and use the self tapping screws to secure them to the sides of the panel. This also makes it easier to remove the panel should it need to be replaced. Draw the outside measurements on the roof as if the panel mounts were installed and add 1/4" to set the camber. Preparing for the mount is key, use a 5/50 mixture of alcohol and Water to clean the surface Apply 3M VHB Universal UV Primer to the underside of the brackets and roof Apply 3M VHB 4950 tape to the underside of the brackets and then attach to the roof Be sure to check and recheck the internal dimensions before fastening as the fasteners will not move once in place Seal the brackets with Sikaflex 221 sealant/glue Now install the solar panel in the brackets, screw the sides tight, to secure it. Ready.
