Only works in wireless mode

I bought this device for its wired and wireless capabilities, but it only works in wireless mode. When you plug it in, you only hear a loud cracking noise. I kept it because it's cute and my son loves it. Disappointed that the functionality does not match the description/advertisement or why I paid for it.
