Installation was pretty easy if you're tech savvy. The instructions won't be clear if you are clueless about computers or security systems. The hard disk can be installed directly, there are screws in the box. I learned this the hard way after buying a mounting kit for next to nothing and finally sending it back. It's nice that this set includes a mouse, remote control, air conditioner plug and cables. My only complaint is with the software. Shit! The iOS app is terrible and has no play function. The software on the device itself also sucks. The basics are like watching, but try editing, recording and playback and you might find yourself in a dilemma or wasting your time. I think the software on Swann is better, but their hard drives often fail. This box gives you more options, but the software isn't that great.
