I buy for use in the kitchen. I can't stand smelly plastic sponges or dirty looking synthetic washcloths that when they get rough get thrown in the trash and become a plastic dump. Oh. maybe in the next few centuries. So we use them as washcloths for washing dishes, wiping surfaces, etc. I wash them hot and reuse them until they start looking a little dirty, then they go to my husband's shop for car repairs or other dirty jobs and then they're thrown away . . Since they are 100% cotton I can compost them if they don't have oil or car/bike grease. But even those that end up in a landfill don't stay there long.
