Fantastic Mortar and Pestle! I was a little overwhelmed with the range of granite mortars and pestles here at Revain but based on reviews and photos settled on the Gorilla Grip Medium - it looked solid, was well made and the reviews matched. And they were right - this thing is the perfect weight and does a great job, and also flushes brilliantly with just water (after proper exposure). I was impressed and wonder how I got by without this thing for so long. to 4, depends on appetite. A large amount of spices and flavors is not a problem, I'm talking about guacamole or pesto. Seasoning was easy enough - my second batch of rice came out white - but I made a third round where I filled the mortar cup about 3/4 full. full of rice to focus on grinding on the sides; While seasoning, the bottom and bottom shell are easy to wipe down as a whole, but the sides are a little trickier.! I finished the seasoning by crushing two batches of garlic/ginger/cumin/coriander seeds into a paste, spreading it evenly inside the mortar and pestle, and then letting it sit overnight (12 hours). Somewhat exaggerated? Yes but it has allowed me to use and connect this great new kitchen ally and it is now very easy to rinse off leaving no trace of odours/residue in unpolished granite. I highly recommend this mortar and pestle!
