I live in a multi story building and wish there were more straight parts. I bought two sets to have enough length as there are bushes all over the house making it impossible to get right under the drain. I need to buy more straight parts (anyone need extra nozzles and curved parts?) to get to the second floor. Operation: It sticks together perfectly when you use it as a vacuum cleaner. Like a blower, the other reviewers are right, it just blows apart. I understand this was built to be cheap but it needs something to hold the parts in place. Some use duct tape. I had the same problem with a Stihl handheld fan. So I drilled tiny holes in the tube where they meet and stuck little nails into them. That works great. I also agree that using it as a vacuum is the best way to operate this machine. I have a lot of sticks in the gutter and they tend to block the vacuum hose from the outside so sometimes I have to pull it down and remove those sticks. It's like a dog with a long stick that can't get through the door. I used a blower to clean the downspout (if you have one) by attaching it to the top of the downspout. Garbage: I have a lot of trees and the leaves have just started falling. I've filled the Ridgid vacuum 1.5 times in about 60ft gutter. There was a lot of wet garbage in there, it had rained for 1.5 days before. I couldn't see into the ditch, but there's about as much debris in there as I normally pull out by hand. I will probably use this method from now on. I've reached an age where my balance isn't what it should be or was before. A few good falls solved it for me. Second, a professional gutter cleaning costs an average of $120-150. It paid for itself from the first use. It probably takes as long to do this with a vacuum as climbing stairs and hand scooping. I see that gutters often overflow in the summer, so it's a good idea to clean up quickly. The set-up time is minutes, as is the cleaning time. I don't recommend using this without a vacuum bath. It scatters junk everywhere and adds nothing to performance. We once had a guy who used a leaf blower to clean the gutters. He did it all by walking on the roof in 15 minutes. He left a mess on the floor and in the house. Then I had to go to the cleaners. Another reason not to try cleaning with a blower. It doesn't take up much storage space, but after you're done you'll want to flush out the vacuum and hoses. Remember to remove the vacuum filter before starting work.
