So far it's working well enough. MOSFET

First of all, this product really works. However, as another reviewer noted, this BMS doesn't seem to charge a battery above 4.05V. I've had no issues with it in my applications that were designed to replace the standard 12V 12Ah Power Wheel battery. I increased the voltage a bit from 12.8 to 16.2 and used this bms 4s5p which made it a bit faster. But mainly to increase the charging speed from 12 hours to 2 hours. And I was also able to go from 144Wh (7.75lbs) to 208.8Wh (2.2lbs). I was able to use very short 16 gauge (0.5-2 inch) copper wires from the end of the tin strips to the board and about 8 inches of 12 gauge copper wire to the batteries from the output wires and they are within reach. reasonable temperatures. My batteries can put out 50 amps and this BMS has no problem running the drive wheels. Before that I had 3s5p on 25a and it had trouble starting the drive wheels. It just jumped and stayed and didn't work for a few seconds. (This BMS also didn't charge cells above 4.05v, so when fully charged it was only running at 12.1v and quickly dropped below 10v. I think the drive wheels will shut down before the battery actually runs out at that moment is.) This BMS is perfect every time. I used it quite roughly, several times for 15 minutes in a row, there were no problems. I put some small heatsinks on top to help, but they never felt more than warm. Priced at $9+ each, let's see if they're worth it. If I can use it for a year, I'm happy.

Pros
  • can control battery charging and discharging, low standby power consumption.
Cons
  • Expensive
