Received this flash just last week, just in time to use on my Canon 350D for my engagement. I felt the photos I took turned out great. I'm still trying to learn how to use a reflective flash and the flash cover, but overall the flash is easy to use. Only 2 buttons to play. A switch you can set to ETTL metering, manual and manual soft flash. The second button is the flash test button. If you're planning on just getting into flash photography, I don't think you can go wrong with the Sigma EF 500 ST. It doesn't charge the flash as quickly as a Canon speedlight, but it won't damage your bag either. I suggest giving it some practice first, and when you're ready for more control and faster load times then get some Speedlite series flash kits.
