Review on Metabo HPT NR1890DC Cordless Brushless Power Tool by Peter Parks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It doesn't use the same battery as original Metabo devices but works great.

I bought this because I already have a stock of Metabo cordless tools and can use the same battery with it. boy was i wrong! I read somewhere that the battery is backward compatible. Well it isn't. The battery is completely different. It ruined my ambition to downgrade all my cordless tools to no more than 2 or 3 battery types. Another issue is that the nail slot is so small that you can only load one rack of nails at a time. At least they should have made it long enough to fit two in it. I'm not sure if Metabo will be as good as it was when they belonged to Hitachi or vice versa. Metabo is German and Hitachi is Japanese. It is obvious which produces the best quality and technique. But let's see if that changes. The next problem is that this thing is heavy. It might not seem difficult at first if you're a pretty strong guy, but I bet you'll start to notice it after a while. But now for the "good". It's Metabo! It means something. I really hope that still happens. Just take a look. So far it works great. I had no problems. Not a single nail got stuck. Some people complain that the hook is too big. I agree, but better too big than too small. Rschunimagu. The battery lasted all the time it took me, which equates to about 400 hits. Will I recommend it? Yes I would if you don't mind the weight. Even more so when the rest of your tools can use the same battery. I think it has some kind of chip in it so universal battery adapters won't work. My other cordless tools are mostly Ryobi and I would go with the Ryobi framing nailer instead, but unfortunately they don't make framing nailers yet.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
