Under twenty dollars, sounds great, ships quickly and is worth every penny. I really thought to get something more expensive. Please note that I have nothing to compare. So I piped it straight into the receivers, not through that box straight into my computer and then back into the same receivers. Untouched sounded slightly better directly in each of my JVC 517v receivers. But here's the catch: a little computer tweaking and all bets are off. The computer can add reverb, EQ, noise reduction, range expansion, widening or narrowing of separation, and even slow down or speed up without distortion or crazy pitch. Meanwhile, whatever is done to the receiver, in many cases, causes more damage by the receiver. I've played rap, rock, classical, old school Motown and soul and even compared the CD to some of my records, amazing! I can't imagine buying anything more expensive without comparing A and B! Here's what I use. I have a do-it-yourself computer with an old Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music rated at around 101dB, which makes me miss the dead Auzen Prelude card. I'm using line-in and it's important that you don't use it as a microphone. As a source (mobo sound card switched from MIC to line-in) I never use motherboard audio. The red and white RCA connectors of the phono stage are connected to the input of the preamplifier unit. Bring the computer out with something like "RevainBasics 3.5mm to 2-pin RCA Adapter Cable - 4ft" or a Monoprice equivalent. There should be better more expensive solutions/options, but this thing blew me away. I have a Technics SL-Q300 turntable (lol turntable) and thought my stylus/needle was worn out! I even ordered a cheap needle to test, but the old needle under magnification showed it was dirty. A little WD-40 and alcohol plus Q- and everything is fine again. A $47 needle/pin sounds like $47 and $19 sounds like, well, $19 LOL! But that's not entirely fair. I will leave a new needle as a backup. I need and tell my friends about it. If it's confusing, ask questions. I use two receivers for sound from a computer, an Ole School JVC for left and right sound for music and a newer Harman Kardon AVR 246 for discrete analog 5.1 sound for game sound etc.
