This key case is well made, especially for the price. But beware what I want to know. The key will not start the car if you just put the keypad and the original metal key in this new case. You also need to move the RFID chip. Moving the keyboard was easy. Replacing the blank key with my cut key was doable but quite confusing. You need to insert the spring exactly into the correct slot in the base of the key, then turn it counter-clockwise and put the body back on without the pieces falling out. That is why they are displayed when the button is pressed. I made several attempts, but finally I succeeded. But the STRONG part is the movement of the RFID chip. This chip is located at the tip of your existing key. It is slightly larger than a grain of rice and is encased in thin glass. When you put the key in the ignition switch, there is a chip reader in the ignition switch that detects the presence of the chip so the car can start. There is no chip and you get the message "Run denied". The chip was glued into my old key. Somehow I broke the glass around the RFID chip and probably removed the carved key before I knew the chip existed. Since just taking the chip out won't work (it will crack), I bought a small hacksaw, cut off the plastic around the chip and sanded the remaining plastic with sandpaper. Lots of fine work. Even after grinding, there was still plastic around the chip, so there was more than room in the new key. I used a soldering iron to open the chip in the new key. Then, amazingly, I Googled it. Miraculously the key is working now but it was a few hours of tedious work. It could easily have gone wrong. I saved $300 on a new key from the dealer, but it's not a project I'd take on if I knew all about it.
