I bought a cheap desk to work from home during the pandemic. The desk has a kind of hard edge that makes typing on your hand or wrist uncomfortable. I have this to solve this problem and also have a surface that you can use the mouse on without scratching the table. I just let it hang over the edge of the table itself a little and it made SO much of a difference and my mouse tracked it well. I have my monitor on part of it to stay in place so I can't vouch for it staying in place unless there is heavy stuff on it. For the price and the size I needed it was perfect.
