I really like this controller. It doesn't feel cheap like some third-party aftermarket controllers. The blue LED function can be turned off by pressing the button on the back. The controller is powered by 2 AA batteries; I use a couple of rechargeable batteries that I rotate and get around 8+ hours of playtime on a full charge. Please note that this controller cannot be used to "turn on" the PS3 like the original SONY controller, but it can be used to turn off the system. Also, and this issue is very important: THIS CONTROLLER WILL NOT WORK ON PS2 GAMES EVEN IF YOUR PS3 IS BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE. I actually tried this with three different third party controllers and none of them worked. Here's what happened: 1) Snakebyte's wired PS3 controller - feels like a cheap controller. Worked for PS3 games but stopped working when the PS2 game was inserted into the PS3. 2) PowerA Wireless Controller for PS3 - felt good but the USB interface device didn't work making this controller COMPLETELY UNUSABLE. 3) Wireless Afterglow Controller for PS3 - The controller is well made, the buttons are springy and responsive. PS3 games run normally but stop working once a PS2 game is inserted into the system.
