Good for gamers, not for work

I am writing this review because I would like to read it before purchasing this monitor. There are several USB-C widescreen monitors out there, particularly in this price range, but this one looked like the best monitor for the money, so I bought it. What I was hoping for was that this monitor would be able to offer cable heaven between the monitor and my 2017 MacBook Pro. Ideally I could connect my USB peripherals to the back of this monitor, connect USB-C directly from the monitor to my MBP and my MBP would also load and stream video to this monitor. That didn't happen. First, there are no additional USB ports on the back of the monitor. I didn't believe that when I read the specs because USB ports on the back of a monitor are so common these days. Second, the USB-C cable is great for transferring video from the MBP to the monitor, and while it does power the MBP, it doesn't provide enough power to keep it fully charged. My power meter slowly dropped from 100% over the course of a few hours. Not as bad as running without electricity, but not enough to last a full day. So I have an Apple Multiport Adapter that includes a USB-C port, HDMI, and a USB port that then connects to the MBP via a USB-C. I have connected this monitor to the adapter's USB-C port and the keyboard/mouse USB port to the adapter's USB port and there is no power being transmitted during video transmission. The only way to get video and some power is to connect the monitor's USB-C directly to the MBP's USB-C. I'm not sure if this is LG's fault or if it's just the way Apple's adapter is designed. So on day two, I came up with my own cable to power them all: I plug the MBP-powered USB-C to USB-C on the adapter, I plug the USB keyboard/mouse receiver into the adapter, and I plug the HDMI cable from the adapter to the monitor. I then connect a USB-C connector from the adapter to the MBP and finally I have everything I need. One day the goal of USB-C is to provide that kind of paradise with a single connector, but we're not doing that. but at least not on this monitor. The biggest issue I've had with this monitor is that my MacBook Pro doesn't support a higher resolution than 1920 x 1080 at the moment. I'm using HDMI so I ordered a higher performance USB-C cable to see if that fixed the issue. It's a decent monitor, but you'll have to spend extra money on cables and dongles to get what you need. I also have a LG 34WN80C-B 34 elsewhere that is 100% better than this model. It's an extra $200, but it's worth it, and the widescreen is fantastic. But yeah, if you just want to watch movies and play games, I'm sure this monitor will do the job.
