I bought this for my basset hound as he rummages his belly until raw. He's probably allergic or something, but I can't find the cause (and I've taken him to the vet a few times). I've heard that some dogs (especially large dogs) can take them off, but he only took them off once and that may be because I didn't fasten them tight enough (they were still velcro). Basset Hounds aren't known for their intelligence or tenacity (he won't even force his way through a slightly ajar door!) so he didn't really test this collar, but it works for him. This collar is stiff enough that he cannot twist around enough to bleed. Otherwise, he looks perfectly happy wearing it as it doesn't restrict his vision or hearing (unlike the cone). I also tried the ProCollar (inflatable collar) which worked for a while until he realized he could push through the collar to burrow back into his stomach. So far I am happy with this collar.
