Review on Precision Monitoring with Simmons Manufacturing πŸ” 1305 Pressure Gauge: Accurate Readings for Optimum Performance by Tim Ram

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not reset on arrival - for a few PSIs.

First, I'm an engineer so I know what I'm talking about. One of the reviewers said that this device is filled with a viscous liquid. This is completely wrong as it is an air filled water pressure gauge. Upon receipt mine showed a pressure of just under 10 pounds while the needle was supposed to be resting on a peg slightly above zero. Obviously there is no 100% visual inspection before the parts leave the factory. Maybe I should and could have sent it back. But I know how they work and I know how to fix them so I decided to leave it and fix it. I've already taken it apart for this purpose but haven't had time to fix it yet, but probably pretty soon. On opening I found two visible damages that any assembler (or inspector) could easily have noticed prior to final assembly - there were two deep dents on a critical part of the mechanism that should have (and cause) the problem. So shame on the manufacturer for shipping. The dents can't be removed, but I can still zero the gauge, although the dents cause a slight change in accuracy across the full scale (which I don't want to be as sensitive to - in other words, I want to ignore) . If I didn't know how to reset the counter, I would return it because its readings would be far from correct throughout the operation (and that's well beyond my ability to forgive). Warning: Because water meters retain water after use and it is very difficult to completely remove the device without priming the device, never leave it below freezing. When water freezes, it expands. This extension will be permanent and will completely destroy the most important component in the gauge - the component that dented in my gauge - and you will end up throwing it away.
