Review on Edifier R1280Ts Powered Bookshelf Speakers: πŸ”Š Superior Studio Monitor Speakers with Subwoofer Line Out by Alyssa Bennett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good frequency response

TWO SETS OF RCA INPUTS = CONVENIENT: I like that there are two sets of RCA inputs. That means you can connect your TV and laptop at the same time without worrying about switching sources. (So both are essentially connected and this mixes audio between the two sources. Whatever is playing just plays!) NO BLUETOOTH = OK: I've been fighting between these and the Bluetooth sources. After reading reviews of devices with Bluetooth, I decided not to use Bluetooth as it is less reliable than a wired connection. With a Chromecast connected to a TV that outputs audio to these speakers, I can practically plug my Chromecast into these speakers. SUBWOOFER = OPTIONAL: The subwoofer output is very convenient because if you need a subwoofer on the go, you can easily add it. But you really don't need that. This is an improvement over the original model as the frequency response extends all the way down to 52Hz. I just tested the tone generator and it drops to 52Hz, maybe a little lower. Volume seems to drop off from 110Hz, but there's still pretty decent bass all the way down to 50Hz. So in my opinion, the only time you really need a subwoofer with these speakers is if you really want a thumping theater sound. Unbelievable price of $100.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Legacy model
