I bought three jackets for my average height 9 year old daughter to try on. Of the three I bought, this brand was her favorite! I know these are boys jackets but I pass all the jackets on to my older siblings (3 more children) so as long as the colors are neutral they are suitable for any gender. Her first comment was how soft the material was. It's lightweight and not stiff like some of the other jackets we have. Although we didn't test it in the rain, it definitely stands up to the wind and cold. This is the perfect windbreaker. I bought Medium (8-10) and my daughter is 9 years old and weighs 68 pounds. I was hoping/expecting that this would matter to them as we needed them to grow into and that it would last for a while. It fits exactly as I expected.
