I broke my fibula above the ankle but after a few days my ankle was very swollen. I prefer the ice massage, but there are only a few times a day that I'm comfortable with, so I bought this as a supplement. In general I like it. I took off a star because I don't know how you would put that on without pain if your real ankle was injured. I am in pain and my injury is above my ankle. The foot strap is fixed (stretches but not adjustable) so you have to put your foot through what I thought was a small hole. The straps around the shin are adjustable with Velcro. Backpacks are very cold. I wear a light sock underneath and have to put them on for at least 30 minutes before putting them on. That being said, I can use it twice before freezing again. (Difference up to 90 minutes). Good quality product that I would buy from them again.
