Review on πŸ”’ Optimized RFID Cabinet Lock: Hidden & NFC Supported for Wooden Cabinet, Drawer, Wardrobe, Weapon Storage by Peter Zouhair

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good locking, difficult installation, NFC phone function is not as advertised.

I like that the lock works and includes the necessary screws for assembly. That's all. There are no instructions in the box, but the information is on the network in the photo and video. My first location was a dresser drawer. Installation can be easy only if the top of the cabinet is exactly in line with the top of the drawer. In my case, the top of the dresser was a few inches higher than the top of the drawer when closed. I ended up having to add L brackets to screw the latch to the bottom of the dresser. The body of the lock itself was easy to place on the inside of the box. It would be more difficult with the housing and the bolt the other way around. Your measurements must be accurate or the latch will not fully engage the lock body. Also, the latch has about a half-inch of deflection before it engages, so you might think you're measuring correctly and then miss out on the spring preload by half an inch. 2 Rfid cards are included which is nice. The lock makes a loud beep every time you open it and I haven't figured out how to turn off the beep. The unfortunate thing is that using the phone as an RFID card to unlock the lock DOESN'T WORK. I have a OnePlus 9 Pro. There isn't any wallet app other than Google Pay that won't let you clone a card key. Samsung Payment was used in the example above. I've never used Samsung Pay, but this feature may only be available in this app. I can't download Samsung Pay to my phone. The manufacturer says you don't need a specific app, it's already on your phone. This was lazy and misleading on the part of the manufacturer as they didn't do any additional research with other phones. Most phones have NFC, I definitely do. It will read the RFID card but not emulate it. This makes sense because if all phones could easily emulate RFID cards, there would be a lot of robberies and scams by people using their phones as skimmers. If Samsung Pay once had this option, they've probably removed it by now, but if it's really an option, the manufacturer should create an app to enable it. Until then, if you plan on buying this lock for this function, don't buy it. That does not work. To make matters worse, I thought maybe I could just slip one of the RFID cards into my phone case and use it like I was pretending to use my phone - no. Even with NFC off, a signal from my phone is blocking or blocking the card reader lock in the phone case. Even if the phone is just lying on its back without a case, the lock will not read the card. Put my phone down, boom, it's working. So I'm glad to have a drawer lock. And using an RFID card is great, but I wanted it on my phone so I wouldn't lose it and nobody can open it without my phone. But now I have to keep track and use the stupid map. If I ever find a way to emulate the map with my phone I'll update. Until then, don't buy.
