I use this product with an oil based cleaner. It is very gentle on the skin and works well with a makeup remover cleanser. Having sensitive skin, it was important to me to use something non-abrasive. There were no traces or lint left on my skin. Finally, I clean my pads as soon as I use them, so I can't comment on how they hold up with washing. But the pads are well made, they seem to be fine on the gentle cycle. I probably wouldn't use fabric softener because I don't want any residue on my skin. If you are looking for an exfoliant, this is not the product for you.
