There are over 200 reviews so I keep mine simple. Be sure to order a Type 2 keyboard when ordering. It's more useful than the Type 1 colored panels. The Type 2 keyboard is backlit, and that's a bonus. When you get your Surface, I suggest you charge it fully before downloading any apps. You cannot upgrade to 8.1 without a full charge. This tablet needs over 70 updates and it will take hours. So make sure you have a day and keep an eye out for updates. I would advise you to go to the desktop part and then go to the control panel section to find the "Check for updates" option. It shows you the percentage of how much is done and shows you the amount left to download. I had an issue where mine got stuck at 44% for an hour so I canceled it and restarted my tablet. I'm sure you've seen that where you can turn your computer off or on and before you get to the desktop it says 'refresh' and tells you the percentage of how much more is needed. Here's what happened when I aborted and rebooted. When that was done, I went back to the desktop, to the control panel, and then checked for updates again. This will continue with the update, which will take several hours. I have Fios Quantum speeds and it still took a long time. When that's done, it will finally be 8.1. I went back to check for updates and there were another 15 waiting. I assume they were full versions of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, etc. Everything works fine. So far I haven't had any problems with that. I would advise you to go to youtube and look for surface RT tips and tricks as there is no guide. I learned how to do many simple things to make the experience even better. I do not regret the purchase. This is a really good product when you are in school. If you are looking for games or other forms of entertainment, you should go for a more expensive laptop or PC. You can watch Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Skype but remember this is not a Google product so there may be things that are not 100% compatible as it is a Microsoft tablet.
