MAJOR CHANGES!

After digging out the sticky ointment from the previous owner that smeared all the screws and got into the channel grooves, this bar went in very quickly and easily. A breeze to work with and looks great. The red color I chose gives the van a new, eye-catching look. UPDATE: This material is NOT durable. It looks great at first glance, but over time it shrinks significantly in size. This defeats the purpose of the installation as now the ends of the trim channel are again exposed to the rain. It would be better to remove the bar altogether and tighten the bottom screws. The attached photo shows how much it has shrunk over the year since installation. This was done for each vertical corner, but oddly not for the horizontal ones. This material clearly cannot withstand the extreme weather conditions in Colorado. You can clearly see where the bar has nicks because you screwed through the locking screw thinking that would hold it in place, but it was compressed so "hard" that it broke the bar (the rest got stuck under the bracket). Now I need to see if I can tuck the patch under the top and screw it in too, but leave it much longer than the open gap as that part will also shrink over time. However, I'm not sure I can fit another piece in as the overlapping piece may be too thick to fit the channel. What a PITA I even have to play around with because this material is so dimensionally unstable. I will definitely look for another brand if I ever have to replace the whole thing again. NOT RECOMMENDED.
