I ordered the 170 gph to help with water changes on my 30 gallon. It takes about 8 minutes to empty out 15 gallons. My tank sits up rather high and when I tried to to do my water changes the poor little thing could only move the water up the siphon about 3 feet before giving up. I wish I got a stronger one to do water changes. But, placing this in my tank it does create a lot of movement in the water column so I didnt feel the need to return because I liked how well it moved the water around the tank. I would recommend, but if you buy this for water changes PLEASE order a more powerful one.
