Great kit for home/garage soldering

Nice little kit for some things you want to fix in an emergency. He's got a pretty well put together soldering kit and it comes with some solder (no lead. I know lead is bad for you but it works much better/easier) and he's got serviceable tweezers and a solder sucker. The solder suction cup is exactly the same as the other two kits I've bought over the past few years and it actually works pretty well. The suction cup isn't that much fun, but it's pretty easy. The zip on the bin is good but doesn't seem like it will hold up for everyday use (but that's just based on how she feels). Soldering: The iron seriously reminds me of a part that is usually attached to a large desk. Soldering station / hot air soldering station, but without a station. It heats up well, I was very good at building a small clock that required me to solder the microcircuits myself and attach a battery to them. The included solder worked for me, but I didn't like it and I'll just use a coil that melts at a lower temperature. It's not the kit's fault as it's just the formula that most solders are made of now that has a higher melting point. Pros: Good kit for easy soldering Solder included * Heats up fairly quickly Easy to control Includes tweezers and holder Has a zip lock case that keeps everything in it Good value for money for around the house/crafts things Cons: Holder isn't the strongest but it works Solder in kit is lead free (higher melting point) Not used daily (not as durable as Daily Driver" but not for the price) Overall this is a good little kit for soldering things in House that doesn't require a lot of precision or repeated daily use This is a good real iron and the mount works but I would take care to fit it tightly and correctly I would also recommend picking up solder with a slightly lower melting point .

Pros
  • Soldering iron kit with DMM
