Our 20G tank has been rotting for almost a year. When the pump ran out of water to pump, we just turned it off and it stayed that way the whole time. When I finally decided to eliminate this biohazard, to my great amazement there was still 1 small fish in the remaining 2 inches of water. My guess is that he survived on the remains of his fellow tankers and what grew there. I put it in a pyrex bowl when cleaning. Now the aquarium is washed, disinfected and filled with good water. It's like new with these pads and other AquaClear filtration products. After the water has stabilized, the mountain fish are now swimming in amazement in a whopping 20g of clear water. We will be adding some new fish and plants soon once we have good bacteria colonizing the filter.
