Review on πŸ”Š [Enhanced Edition] ASIYUN Mini Soundbar Speakers – Wired and Wireless Computer Sound Bar for PC Tablets Laptop Desktop Projector Cellphone, Stereo USB Powered Computer Speakers by Steve Rohde

Decent speaker for the money; DOES NOT support USB sound

So I was looking at a speaker that can work over Bluetooth, as well as charge over USB and transfer sound. This one claims to be able to do that, and I've read at least one review where one person made that claim, but mine just doesn't work for sound over USB - only for charging. I value good sound more than most people, although I'm far from an audiophile. This is for use on my desk with a 23" LCD powered by a 2017 MacBook Pro, so all I need is computer noise/alerts and audio from a random YouTube video. I'm disappointed that audio doesn't work over USB - USB seems to be for power only. I connected the 3.5mm audio out to an inexpensive USB audio adapter and USB audio works, which is what I do. I don't want to use Bluetooth on my desktop as sometimes there are connectivity issues and such, and on a 2017 MacBook Pro I connected everything (HDMI/USB hub/power delivery) to a USB-C hub so I only have to connect one Cable to my MacBook when I take it to and from my desktop (about once a week). Bluetooth has historically been unreliable for reconnecting audio, so I only want a wired connection. I didn't test the speaker's battery life, but the volume is more than adequate for an office environment. I have even used the speaker for a class of 10 preschoolers to guide/lead them in singing Christmas carols to a group of seniors in a nursing home and the speaker has done a good job in a large meeting room. I just plugged in the iPhone on the spot. The next day I used it for two Christmas parties playing instrumental Christmas music in the background. He also excelled in this dynamic. Bass is a bit lacking on this speaker, but for my application I actually prefer it because conversation sounds better without bass. And I play it at a lower volume where the bass isn't even really needed. When I turned it on to accompany the vocals, the quality was good. It's all worth the price (I saved a bit on the lighting) and I would buy it again but give it one star because it doesn't lose sound. via USB, as I was led to believe.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
