I'll confess I don't work in construction or anywhere else that I would really need these boots - I just liked them and wanted a shoe that I didn't have to worry about. So maybe I'm not the target audience - I can't tell how they would have handled the builders' work. I only received them a few hours ago but I love the boots. The leather is soft but feels durable and they are very comfortable. They don't look like cheap boots. Based on how they are feeling now and other reviews, I expect these few years to be like that. I don't think they are that big. I usually wear size 11 and ordered 11. They are a bit big but I think 10 1/2 would be too small. By the age of 11 the parts (e.g. the heel) are loosening up, but the parts still need lapping and turning up. Loose parts can easily be held in place with a heel pad or gel insert, but that's easier than trying to squeeze into tight spots with a smaller size. I wasn't sure if brown boots would hold up well to mink oil (which I put on my Wolverine boots every 2 or 3 months) but once applied I like the look. They are slightly darker (see photo, they will lighten over time as the oil dries) so keep that in mind before applying oil. I actually like the oiled look more than the pre-oiled look - they look amazing. I work in an office (ad) and would wear them to work with no problem. And the oil helps them repel water even more than they already do (I've seen tests done by the company, they're pretty waterproof) and also protects the skin.
