So I definitely underestimated the size of the filter when I bought it. We only have a small 2.5 gallon tank for our Beta and the original filter was too big for this tank. My husband laughed in my face for a good 10 minutes when he opened the box. In any case, I was sure it would work, so I trimmed the edges of the foam and didn't use the water intake from the top. It just bubbles up and it works great! Definitely keeps the water clean and our fish seem to enjoy the bubbles. :)
