Everyone always asks the same few questions about pencils when deciding whether or not to buy a new brand of pencil. Probably the most asked question is "How are they different from Prismas?" I've usually avoided this question because EVERY brand is different. This time in my review I will be comparing these new Cezanne Professional pencils to Prismas. This is a review that should or will surprise a lot of people. So let's start. One of the biggest and most persistent complaints about Prismacolor is how easily they break. The reason they break is cost cutting factors. When prisms are made into a stick, or for lack of better words, the lead is placed in a shallow "groove" on one half of the pencil. Then the 2nd half of the barrel is placed on top (like a sandwich) and the 2 halves are glued together. This keeps the core of the pencil pretty much simple to move around easily. For example, if a pencil is dropped, the core can sometimes break, leaving you with many smaller pieces of core that just fall out of the pencil when you try to sharpen it. The whole pencil, or most of it, has become garbage. Like prisms, Cezanne pencils have a wax base. In fact, however, the core of the Cezzane pencil is glued to the body. Now if you drop the Cezzane and break the core, you probably won't lose much, if anything, because the core is glued to the barrel. Bound pencils are usually your expensive brands. These Cezzane Pro pencils are very creamy and soft. Almost the exact consistency of Prismas, to be honest. Now professionals can test for lightfastness. It takes some time to get these results. The Prisms never did. Overall (just my opinion) I honestly think the Pros outperformed the Prismas for about half the price. I've been using mine for about a month and I don't miss my prisms at all. Everything about Pros is equal to or even better than Prisma. While my prisms gather dust. One last little note about the pros. I think the manufacturer should have consulted with the artists π¨ what they expect from a quality pencil for artists. The color palette really shows it. You get really wonderful colors that you rarely see from any brand. You get a large number of pink, red, green, etc. These pens become very popular when they become popular. As always, have a nice day and coloring!
