
This is definitely more of a sitting (or maybe kneeling) than a standing tool. Works great with very active or hyper kids who would like to try sitting in a regular chair. This also works great for me - I have no problem sitting for possibly too long, but if I sit at my desk this is a very subtle way to encourage myself to A) sit better and B) get up and walk around. Sitting in a chair with arms it provides just a little instability that keeps my core muscles working. I sit with the spiky side up which eventually irritates me causing me to stand up every 15 minutes or so. It was very surprising to me both how challenging it was to sit on and much better I feel when using it. It's taken a while to work up to using it for half the day. Much less distracting and more professional than a ball. As for the kids, this is a great middle ground for the slightly older kid who is ready to transition off of the balance ball or wobble seat but still needs some movement.
