There are complaints that the coffee cools down too quickly. I bought a thermograph and as long as you take the carafe out of the kettle it stays warm for hours. I think some expect the coffee maker to stay on with the hotplate, but you need to keep warm by removing the carafe for the mechanism in the lid to seal. A coffee maker has the carafe lid open so coffee can get in. It closes when removed from the kettle, which also retains heat. This is described in the instructions. The coffee maker is easy to clean, very convenient to use, brews a great tasting drink and keeps coffee warm for hours. My wife and I love it - our last manufacturer was the Starbucks brand (the best they had, actually) and they've served us well for over 12 years! We expect it to be just as long or longer.
