Pillowcases are too small for a sofa with pillows

I bought both a sofa and a cover for a loveseat in a set. The purple isn't as bright as I was hoping, but still cute. Pillowcases work well for the bottom seat cushions, but are not large enough/textured enough to properly cover the backs of the top cushions. They have a bungee style closure at the back that over time turns my unstructured pillow backs into round balls or pops pieces out of the open area. He also has a torn arm two months after my dog jumped up to look out the window. Decent for a quiet home for adults but not for kids and animals.
